What is Lawn Surface Correction (Leveling)?

Lawn surface correction — often referred to as leveling — is a corrective treatment designed to address uneven, bumpy, or inconsistent lawn surfaces. The result is a noticeably flatter, smoother lawn with improved function, appearance, and long-term health.

How Does it Work?

This process involves applying a carefully blended organic topsoil and sand mix across the lawn to gradually smooth low areas while amending the existing soil. The organic component introduces fresh nutrients, while the sand improves structure and drainage, creating a more stable and resilient growing environment.

Overseeding Procedure

Once the surface is corrected, an Idaho-specific grass seed blend is incorporated to fill thin or bare areas as the lawn recovers and establishes new growth. While the lawn may look rough immediately following treatment, patience is rewarded with a dramatically improved surface and a healthier, more uniform lawn over time.

Timing and Recovery

Lawn surface correction is season-sensitive and must be performed before early summer to allow proper recovery ahead of summertime heat. The sweet spot most years is mid-April to mid-June. We want sprinklers on and consistent warm sun for the fastest recovery. Once the seed germination gets rolling, you will love watching your lawn come back to life. Under ideal conditions, your lawn will be ready for its first mow in 4-5 weeks; although you will be tempted to mow it sooner.
